Elif Key, author of Bize İki Çay Söyle, will be signing her latest book in New York City on December 11, 2015.

The event begins at 6:30pm at 31 East 79th Street, New York. Books and refreshments will be provided.

Çocukluk, büyümek, şehirlerin boğuculuğu, anneler-babalar, anneanneler-dedeler, kadir kıymet bilmek, her şeyi unutmak, sürate yenik düşmek... Yalnızlıklar, öfkeler, umutlar, heyecanlar, ölümler, küçük intihar notları... Ama en çok naiflikler, yanından fark etmeden geçip gitsek de aklımızın bir yanına takılıp kalan güzellikler... Elif Key anların, olayların, sıradan gibi görünen başkalıkların fotoğraflarını çekip kalemini oynatıyor. Bize İki Çay Söyle, bir çocuk naifliği içinde eğlenceli ama bir o kadar da yakıcı anlatılar, bir iç dökme, dertleşme.

About the Author:

Elif Key: 1972’de İstanbul’da doğdu. Marmara Üniversitesi Ekonomi Bölümü’nü bitirdi. 1992 yılında bir kadın dergisinde gördüğü ilanda “Bir gençlik dergisi için yazısına güvenenleri bekliyoruz” yazıyordu; kalktı gitti, kapıyı Kanat Atkaya açtı. O yıldan bu yana çeşitli gazete ve dergilerde, televizyon ve radyolarda muhabir, editör olarak çalıştı. 2013 yılından beri New York’ta yaşıyor.

The American Turkish Society is proud to present the 14th New York Turkish Film Festival. With the generous contribution of the premier sponsor Chobani, the festival will be held on March 27- April 4, 2015 at the School of Visual Arts Theater. This year’s festival will screen a selection of eight remarkable feature films, bringing the best of contemporary Turkish cinema to audiences in New York. Our selection includes films by established masters as well as emerging new voices that have enjoyed domestic and international festival success. The selected films explore a diverse range of subjects and themes including the human – nature relationship, the consequences of urban gentrification, the expression of cultural and ethnic identity, and the complexities of family dynamics.

Join us for an evening celebrating 12-time Grammy Award winning producer, arranger and composer, Arif Mardin. We will be screening the Grammy nominated film, "The Greatest Ears In Town: The Arif Mardin Story", which chronicles the life and career of the man who produced more than 50 gold and platinum records with sales topping 50 million units.

Filled with rare footage, photos, and packed with incredible music, "The Greatest Ears In Town" features in-depth and intimate interviews and/or studio footage with music luminaries, friends and artists including Quincy Jones, Ahmet Ertegun, Sir George Martin, Willie Nelson, Carly Simon, Jewel, Daryl Hall, Phil Collins, The Bee Gees, Norah Jones and many others. "The Greatest Ears In Town" is one of the most insightful, enjoyable documentaries ever made about how hits are created.

Following the screening there will be a Q&A with Joe Mardin and Doug Biro, co-directors of the film and a live performance by Raul Midon, who was produced by both Arif and Joe Mardin.

The evening's proceeds will go toward supporting ATS educational programs.
